DUBAI: 15 Unique Things to Do

Dubai has been on our bucket list for many years. With giant skyscrapers surrounded by the blindingly white sands of the Arabian Desert, Dubai is as unique as it is exotic and is high on our list of you-gotta-see-it-for-yourself places.

Here are 15 things you can do in Dubai, whether you’re in Dubai for business, pleasure or to simply enjoy the beauty of this desert oasis.

SKI IN THE DESERT

It’s not sand-skiing, although you can also do it in Dubai. Ski Dubai has built a 22,500-square-meter indoor skiing area, complete with lifts, tubing runs, and other amenities, within the Mall of the Emirates.

Indoor skiing seems strange to us Canadians, who live near one of Canada’s finest ski hills (Big White). Indoor skiing is a concept that we have never heard of before. We are Canadians who live near one of Canada’s best ski hills (Big White).

It is one of the unique experiences in Dubai. You can even go zorbing on ice or race your friends down a subzero dual zipline. The penguin encounter is a great way to get close-up and personal with the penguins. Our kids might go to see the penguins alone!

GET FROSTY

We checked the temperatures when we first began to consider visiting Dubai. We’d heard that it could get hot. It turns out that this is a slight understatement. Temperatures of around 41 degC are not uncommon. Wow!

The Chillout Lounge is a chilly -6 degrees Celsius (42 degrees Fahrenheit) ice lounge that you can visit if you are tired of the hot sun. The difference in temperature can be shocking, especially when Dubai’s summer temperatures reach +42 degC. You can wear warm clothes and enjoy hot soups, sandwiches, desserts, and mocktails.

GET WET

You can find us snorkeling or kayaking on the beach.

Dubai is a desert country. There are many ways to stay cool in the water.

Spend the day at one of Dubai’s three large waterparks to hydrate your skin. You’re guaranteed to have a lot of fun. Bring your sunblock.

GET PAMPERED

After a day of sightseeing in Dubai, you need to relax. In Dubai, you can relax in a beauty spa that offers lava-shell massages and facial treatments with 24k gold leaf. You can get a real gold facial. Don’t worry, you’re worth it.

GET UNKINKED

Are you tired of the same old yoga routine?

Micki is a big yoga fan and she suggested that I add Swing Yoga to our list. You can find it in many fitness centres around Dubai. If you don’t find it fun to do yoga hanging upside-down or with your legs half tied into knots, then you should rethink your definition of “fun”.

It takes a village

Are you looking for something to entertain yourself between November and April this year? Global Village could be just what you are looking for. The entire world is contained in this huge family entertainment and culture attraction. With over 30 kiosks, you can dine, shop and enjoy live performances from all around the globe.

MILK IT

You’re not satisfied with regular water? Try a goat milk bath in the Jacuzzis of the Talisse Ottoman Spa. It will not only make your skin look more beautiful, but it will also refresh you like Cleopatra did when she started taking milk baths thousands of years ago.

FLY LIKE A BOARD

This next activity requires a good deal of adventure and hand-eye coordination. Micki, a person who will try anything at least once, is hesitant to take part in this activity.

Flyboarding is a great way to combine extreme sports and water ports while in Dubai. Flying high above the water in a board attached to a boat by a long hose will make you feel excited.

DEFY GRAVITY

Indoor skydiving is another option if flyboarding isn’t for you.

iFly Dubai has the first ever double vertical wind tunnel. Are you afraid of heights or falling? You’re never more than a few feet above the ground. However, if you want to get a little adrenaline, you can go higher.

This sounds amazing! I can imagine our 11-year-old son loving it.

DUNE RIDING

Dubai is known for its extravagant lifestyle. This is one of the many reasons why we think Dubai would be an amazing city to visit soon.

Check. 7-star hotel. Check. Check out the giant archipelago created in the form of a palm. Dubai also has a sprawling and vast desert. You can enjoy a comfortable desert safari while riding the dunes in search of Aladdin’s Treasure. The Arabian Desert lies right outside its doors. Imagine the vehicle like your personal roller coaster. I would.

Ice Cream Gold

You may have noticed that we are a big fan of ice cream. We’ve visited countries because of ice-cream recommendations. ).

Dubai’s wealth is everywhere. Gold is everywhere, including on ice-cream. Scoopi Cafe is one of Dubai’s unique restaurants and offers the most expensive ice-cream desserts in the city, costing around $800 each.

The dessert is made of a sundae with rare black truffles imported from Italy, saffron flakes from Iran and 23-carat powder and flakes. Black Diamond is a rare golden delicacy that few people get to enjoy, but it doesn’t prevent customers from exploring the other divine delights available at this trendy ice-cream boutique.

CAMEL HO

We’re now big fans of the gentle animals after our experience of riding dromedary camels in Morocco’s Sahara desert. Even our four-year-old loved riding camels!

It’s not surprising that the camels have played a major role in Dubai’s success. Dubai’s love for camels extends beyond sports. Whether it is a thrilling match of camel-polo or a camel racing complete with robot jockies. You can ride one yourself. It is an unforgettable way to spend the day.

SUBMERGE YOURSELF

We love water and are excited to explore some of Dubai’s most beautiful swimming pools.

Dubai has some of the world’s most beautiful swimming pool due to its taste for opulence, and the fact there is sunshine almost every day of the entire year. You can swim in a pool that is surrounded by sand dunes for as far as your eye can see or under the shadow of one of the world’s largest buildings. Swim on high-rise terraces, or relax in luxury comfort just a stone’s throw from the ocean.

Smell the flowers

Dubai is not just desert and scorching heat. Dubai is home to one of the most beautiful and famous flower gardens in the world.

Anyone who loves flowers should visit the world’s largest natural flower gardens at Dubai Miracle Garden. The sprawling flower garden, which is constantly changing and features giant buildings that are covered in flowers along with fields of flower patterns that will make you feel like Alice in Wonderland instead of a scorching hot desert.
