Decoding Tokyo Treat: Assessing the Value of this Japanese Subscription Box – Our Review

Our family tests the popular Japan snack box Tokyo Treat in our Tokyo Treat hands-on review.

Travelers will tell you that local cuisine and food plays a big role in discovering a new place. We’ve fallen in love with countries more than we can admit when we have a delicious and authentic full-course meal. However, it is the snacks and drinks that define people and cultures.

What happens when you are unable to fly anywhere and sample food because the world has become more closed down? Sometimes the best solution is to have food delivered to your home.

It can be difficult to locate authentic Japanese candy and snacks outside of Japan. Tokyo Treat is the answer.

Japanese candy and snacks are considered to be among the funniest and most unique treats around.

As travel is still expensive and complicated, a visit to Japan may not be in the near future. Although I would love to travel to Japan with my family and by train in Japan we will wait for travel to be more affordable.

Even if you can’t visit Japan in person, sampling some of its fun foods is an excellent way to get a taste of their culture.

We were very excited about trying the Tokyo Treat Box.

The number of treats in the Tokyo Treat Box impressed me. We were able to sample 17 different snacks and treats.

There was an excellent snack guide with pictures and descriptions of all the snacks.

Umaibo was my favorite cheese. The tube is about four inches long and tastes like a sweeter, fluffier cheese Cheeto. It’s so good!

My son was most likely to prefer the Pocky Crushed Strawberry. This is a very thin sweet candy stick, similar to a wafer of chocolate, that has been dipped into a sweet strawberry-flavored glaze.

The mini monster candy was my husband’s favourite. The mini monster fruit candy is similar to a Fruit Rollup. However, he liked that each of the colors had a distinct taste.

Everyone loved the Mini Strawberry Milk Coco Balls. The white chocolate was infused with strawberry and had a crunch candy coating. Yum!

The drink was refreshing Calpis with its unique grape-fizzy sweetness and creamy goodness.

It was a beautiful cartoon in anime style on the front cover of the snack guide. This was a cartoon that was custom-made for the specific box. It included details of what was in the box. It’s very cool!
